Cookie Town
These Letters to the Editor appeared in the Spring 2008 issue of Texoma Living!.
I made Ray Bledsoe’s Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe (Winter ‘07) and WOW! I made some serious brownie points when I brought these cookies in to work! They were gone before lunchtime.
This is not the first recipe from your magazine that I’ve tried. I’ve made several—most were great, some were just OK. But that may have been just as much operator error than anything else. Please continue to include recipes in your magazine. I’m not all that creative when it comes to cooking so I need all the help I can get. THANKS!

Editor: Let’s be honest. We printed that article just so we would get on Bledsoe’s regular route. See a related story on Bledsoe on the next page.
I just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday, as I know you just celebrated with your anniversary issue. For the past year I have thoroughly enjoyed every issue and look forward to getting it in my mailbox every few months. The only thing I would change about your publication is the frequency; it would be so great to see it every month rather than every quarter. But as long as I keep getting it I’ll stay happy. Keep up the good work.

I love your magazine! My friends and I start wondering what will be in the next issue long before it comes out. You need at least six issues a year. And congratulations on your first birthday.

Editor: If this were a monthly, we’d be dead by now. Instead we’re just exhausted.

The Art of Neon
Not so long ago, the nightscapes of many American cities were bright with brilliant electric signs and the rainbow hues of glowing neon. Actually, neon (Ne) is used for red and orange. The other noble gases on the Periodic Table of Elements, argon (Ar), helium (He), krypton (Kr), and xenon (Xe), are used for other colors along with phosphors and a bit of mercury (Hg). The sixth member of the nobility is radon (Rn), but it’s radioactive and not to be messed with.

Soothsayer
It is in a modest white house just off Texoma Parkway with a big wooden sign in the front; it reads PSYCHIC in bold red letters. Georgia wanted to go there one day, so I took her. Curious, I followed Georgia into the house. There were no voodoo dolls or neon lights, no crystal balls, no eerie music or half-burnt candles, just an unassuming waiting room with a big screen TV and a leather couch. The only hints of being in the residence of a medium were the pictures of tarot cards lined up on one of the plywood walls.
