Chocolate Heaven

Anjanette’s Chocolate Café & Truffle Shoppe is on the square in Gainesville across from the Cooke County Courthouse. Inside, on the wall, is a mural depicting historic downtown Gainesville. There are a classic silver candelabra and big leather chairs, and stacks of decorative gift boxes adorned with ribbons imprinted with the store’s tagline, “For the Love of Chocolate,” which sums things up nicely.

One of the things that set Texoma Living! apart is the inclusion in each issue of a long-form profile, usually three thousand words or more, on someone who brings something special to our community. From the beginning, the goal was to offer the reader something more than a superficial glance at the subject. We wanted the reader to finish the story and say, “I never knew that.” This is a very short retrospective of some of those stories.

Chip Off The Old Block

Call it sawdust in his veins. Chip Piazza had known he wanted to build things since he was a kid. There was no doubt construction would be his future. “My father, Pete, was a residential contractor, so I was around building all the time. I liked drawing house plans in the drafting program in high school. Building picked me, I didn’t pick it,” he said. “I pretty much knew what I wanted to be, being around construction so much as a kid.”
