Hagerman Wildlife Photographers

One of Texoma’s underappreciated gems is the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in the west central part of Grayson County along the Big Mineral Arm of Lake Texoma. Regardless of the season, the refuge is either home or a waypoint for hundreds of species of wildlife and migratory birds.

Three heads, the torsos nowhere nearby, lie lined up on a bed in a small silver traveling trailer in a North Texas parking lot. Noggins from a child, an adult, and a senior citizen stare glassy eyed and grinning at anyone who walks in. This might be unsettling to some folks. For Tim Cowles it is another day at work.

Kent Black was the first CEO of the United Space Alliance, a joint venture between Rockwell International and Lockheed Martin formed in 1996 at the behest of NASA to consolidate Space Shuttle programs under one prime contractor. Not bad for a farm boy from Illinois with a yen for electronics.
