Help, Hope and Healing is what the Child and Family Guidance Center has tried to do ever since it was founded in 1966 by Mrs. Alma Howell, pediatricians Dr. Max Woodard and Dr. Don Freeman, and members of the Grayson County Mental Health Association.

Cassandra Harris, artist and fellow student said, “Sarah has actually taught me how to paint. In her portraits, she creates such depth. She did a drawing of me. I had never thought of myself that way. It was so beautiful I almost cried. Sarah paints the emotion of the personality.”
For Colleen Barnes, who hosts Enchanted Dress-Up Tea Parties and Glamour Girl parties at Simply Puzzled, her boutique at 2010 Loy Lake Road, “it’s a girl thing. When these little girls are all dressed up, they feel good, they feel beautiful, and their personalities come out. Some are silly, some are shy, but it’s a good thing—it builds confidence,” she said.
The little green pumpkin was really cute, and if her five-year-old son preferred it to the hundreds of bright orange ones lying in the pumpkin patch, that was okay with Deborah Reece. “It will soon turn orange,” she told Matthew, “and then you can decorate it for Halloween.”
Twenty-five years ago, Sherman Community Players (SCP) launched Theatricks to introduce children to live theater. Over the years, Director Webster Crocker, the Theatricks Board, and Advisory Board have turned the children’s arm of SCP into an educational and entertainment program of considerable note. In 1978, the Cottons moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma, Ronald’s home town. Joetta worked as a secretary in an oil field company. When the oil business went bust, she landed a job in the Chickasha Library as an administrative assistant and loved it. She took library science classes and completed a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and soon became the Library Director.
