The red peppers didn’t last very long. A little after nine, Katie Livezey, who commutes every day from McKinney to her job as chef at the restaurant of the Bridges Golf Club in Gunter stopped by the barn on FM 121 in the community of Elmont, west of Van Alstyne, to see what she could find for lunch. She found the peppers and bought the whole lot. “I try to stop by every Saturday and pick up some produce,” she said. “The peppers are beautiful, so I’m going to do bratwurst and peppers today. I also got some tomatoes and onions and some of those homemade tamales. The tamales are for me though, not the restaurant.”

Remote Possibilities
As pilot Bruce Lemoine brought his Japanese Zero in for a landing, everyone watched anxiously. The war birds have a tendency to tip over on the propeller, fellow pilot Dan Eshelman said as the plane closed on the runway. Lemoine lined up his plane for a landing on the grass next to the runway to soften the blow to the prop in case the WWII bird tipped, but the extra precautions were unnecessary.

Digging for History
Carole Stubsten of Lake Bonham spent the first part of her life doing things for other people. As a wife and mother, she ran a house and raised three children; as a volunteer, she devoted uncounted hours to others.A few years ago, she decided it was her turn, so she made a list of places to go and things to do and see. Making like Indiana Jones was not on the list.
