Texoma Living! Magazine Launches New Website
The online version of Texoma Living! Magazine was launched this week with TexomaLiving.com, the popular magazine’s c0mpletely overhauled companion website.
A total visual makeover masks the complex “backend” programming that will allow the Texoma Living! staff to interact with its readers in real time. The project was managed by John Flynn of Kickstart Media, a Sherman, Texas web design agency.
“The backbone of the site was developed by a group of very talented people,” said Dan Acree, owner and publisher of Texoma Living! Magazine.
Acree said the the main goal of the print-to-web project was to provide deep access to all of the magazine’s content and to assure that the words and pictures on the pages endure into the digital future.
“Long ago, the only archives were tombstones, county records and newspaper archives,” said Acree, “today the Internet provides access to billions of individual pieces of data. Tomorrow, we will look to websites like TexomaLiving.com to learn how people lived and worked in the 21st century.”
The magazine’s readers now have the opportunity to comment on stories that have been published, to read unpublished content and see unpublished photos. Editors and writers have the ability to “blog” their thoughts and share them online. Later the magazine will add video to the mix.
Acree said the development of the website is ongoing. “The nature of the Internet is fluid—everchanging, it is always in a state of new development with new ways to view it and use it. We will take advantage of those new technologies when we think they can better serve our readers.”
Texoma Living! Magazine is published bimonthly by Big Dog Publishing a Sherman, Texas-based media company. The publication has the widest readership of any publication in the market and is considered to be the official “city magazine” for the growing northeastern region of Texas and southeastern region of Oklahoma commonly referred to as Texoma. Texoma is located 50-minutes north of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and is the home of Lake Texoma, one of the largest manmade lakes in the northern hemisphere.
