Editor: Writing is just one of Jessie’s many talents. She takes all of the photos used to illustrate her story on local flowers. She also is copy editor of this magazine—when we give her sufficient time to do the job. Usually we’re struggling against a deadline.

Angel Iris Farm
They are yellow, pink, blue, orange, purple, white— even black. They dance in the wind like fairies, their arms over their heads, the breezes blowing their ruffled gossamer dresses— the most beautiful of all flowers, the iris. When the Dallas Iris Society takes its annual bus tour on April 27, one of their stops will be Angel Iris Farm on Luella Road in Sherman.
Pirates, Soldiers, & Fat Little Girlfriends
The pirate is former Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach, the soldiers are the members of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M, and the fat little girlfriends—well, we’ll let Leach explain that one. “I worked with a guy from Louisiana in a camp one time—he used to say at the end of drills—he used to say—‘All right, that was a good job, man.’
More Productive?
Some pundit on radio had the nerve to say that American workers must be more productive if we are going to get this nation back on its feet. Exactly what does that mean? I’m obviously clueless as to how much can actually be done in a typical 10-12 hour day. By the time I head home in the evening my mind is ready to explode. How about you?
