Over the past two years, his work has grown in both subject and technique. Real changes began to take place last spring when Dunlap decided to go back to the source of his sculpture work—found objects. “I broke loose and created a body of work that was a total departure from what I had been producing,” he said. “I sort of went back to where I started and used mostly found objects. Those works were good for me; I felt that I needed a change.”

Chocolate Heaven
Anjanette’s Chocolate Café & Truffle Shoppe is on the square in Gainesville across from the Cooke County Courthouse. Inside, on the wall, is a mural depicting historic downtown Gainesville. There are a classic silver candelabra and big leather chairs, and stacks of decorative gift boxes adorned with ribbons imprinted with the store’s tagline, “For the Love of Chocolate,” which sums things up nicely.
No News; Good News
If you are a regular watcher of the nightly network news or listen to Rush Limbaugh too much, it is easy to think the world is going to Hell in a handbasket. (One of my favorite American alliterative locutions.) Seriously, you can overdose on bad news delivered in 20-and 30-second segments. That’s why every few weeks I have to go into a news blackout mode where “no news is good news.”
Friday Night Lite
I remember as a child riding back to Bonham after following the Bonham Warriors to an out-of-town football game with my family. As we drove home, I would get on my knees in the back seat and look out the back window at the headlights of what seemed like a thousand cars strung out behind us in the night, all going home after the game.

Today’s Fine Art
The meaning of fine art is blurred by the use of novel and stylistically unconventional mediums, as well as modern technologies and techniques. Changing views in society, culture, taste and education also skew the traditional meaning. I have a hard time with the term fine art in modern context. Art today goes far beyond idealized classical beauty, pure technique-driven works, and because of that, the meaning of fine art has been blurred.
